Community Features?

I've been talking with a few good friends over the past little while about possibly adding some community and social networking features to GeekLoop.

The basic idea would be to set up http://geekloop.net (which I own in addition to .com) as the community website - most likely with an open source social networking platform like Elgg.

This would allow a whole other level of interaction for GeekLoopers, allowing us to exchange photos and videos and communicate via messaging and forums. There's all sorts of features that can be implemented in Elgg and it's highly customizable.

We'd like to pull together a core group of volunteers that can help to set up, maintain, and moderate the community.
